The Minerva Hibiscus, also known as a Rose of Sharon or Althea, is a multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub. It is extremely showy with lavender-colored blooms. The lavender flowers have a hint of pink and a red center. Each center is crowned with a bold yellow stamen. Minerva Hibiscus will flower over-and-over again from summer into fall. The glossy green foliage frames the flowers and grows in a vase-like shape. It can be trained to grow as a small tree. The green foliage will turn a pretty yellow in the fall. The Minerva can be planted in mass, in groups in containers, or by themselves. They are tolerant of summer heat and humidity. They attract birds and butterflies.
